5. ROIDMI EVA
We have a video review of EVA.
We made a video review for this robot vacuum-mop.
EVA is a 3-in-1 robot vacuum that vacuums, sweeps, and mops. This quiet self-cleaning bot can self-empty and hold dirt for up to a couple of months, and when she mops, she auto-dries. The pressurized mop exerts a whopping 12 Newtons of force!
EVA has a 4 liter water tank, and the dual tank system allows the separation of clean and dirty water. To self-clean the dirty mops, EVA goes back to its dock. The antibacterial effect can reach up to a staggering 99%! When it comes to the odor-free dust bag, it can eliminate 99.9% of bacteria. The waste water tank is 4 liters too.
Whenever a carpet is encountered, EVA automatically makes a detour, which you may have expected.
EVA performs well on tiles, picking up dirt and small pieces of food etc. On a single charge, EVA can cover more than 2,000 square feet of real estate. When tested in a 600 square foot residence, EVA took 3 hours to clean. She manages to redock when she needs to redock.
You can pause and reactivate EVA if you need to: simply press the button on the base!
EVA tries to be aware of its surroundings, so she detects obstacles to change paths. She has 360 degree omnidirectional LDS (laser distance sensor), and she also detects heights to avoid falling off. Even if she is under furniture or it is dark, EVA does not to get stuck. There was no issue with EVA in a poorly lit room.
EVA cleans in straight lines, 20 mm thresholds should be climbable when in vacuum mode, and 15 mm thresholds can be surpassed when vacuum-mopping or just mopping.
As for the auto-drying mops, the auto-drying takes place when a strong wind is generated through a vortex in order to accomplish fast drying, and the mop pads are both anti-odor and anti-mildew. They are 4 inches, they spin at high speed, and the RPM (revolutions per minute) is 180.
EVA’s vacuuming deserves five stars, especially because hair tangling is not an issue, and the mopping is also great. EVA mops tiles and wood quite well, and she should take care of food-related stains on tiles.
Setting up EVA is quite easy, and her first charge took a mere hour.
You can enjoy voice control with her, and she will also give you vocal updates about her status updates. Furthermore, there is a smart LED color screen, and there are gradient marquee lights. You will see flashing indicators in case of:
- The dust bag being full
- The waste water tank being full
- There being a shortage of clean water
- When the mop is drying, an indicator light will be on.
The app is easy to set up too, and it is user friendly. You can set up scheduled cleaning, and you can name rooms as you please.
If there are areas you would not like EVA to go to, you can assign no-go zones, which EVA will respect. Otherwise, there is a spot cleaning mode for specific areas that need intensified cleaning. Hit the spot button onboard EVA so she goes to find dirt!
Again, we have a video review of EVA.
- Excellent vacuum
- Great mop
- Does not tangle
- Fast charging
- Easy to set up
4. Roborock S7+
The S7+ is both a robot vacuum and sonic-vibrating mop with ultrasonic carpet recognition and intelligent mop lifting. It utilizes a multi-directional floating brush while operating under LiDAR navigation with multi-level mapping (LiDAR stands for light and detection ranging).
You can set no-vacuum zones and no-mop zones. Voice commands are issuable using Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Additionally, you can set a child lock.
There is carpet recognition, so if a carpet is encountered, the S7+ boosts suction on its own. As for sonic vibration, the S7+ scrubs up to 3,000 times a minute, and stains from coffee to mud can be cleaned.
When a carpet is detected, the S7+’s VibaRise mop is lifted in order to avoid mopping it. That way, the S7+ acts as a simultaneous vacuum-mop hybrid instead of doing one or the other at any given time. For your information, the mop pressure is 600 g.
LiDAR ensures that maps are accurate and helps Roborock’s Adaptive Route Algorithms work to find the fastest cleaning path.
More interesting facts:
- The multi-directional floating brush keeps the brush close to the ground for deep cleaning even on uneven surfaces, and the brush resists pet hair tangling.
- The S7+ can map up to four levels, and each room is automatically identified for you to label it.
- The dock is self-emptying.
The S7+ is impressive with its fast mapping and overall spatial awareness, and its mopping is not an afterthought: it comes with full force. Despite its ambition, the S7+ is easy to operate, and you can customize it with the self-emptying functionality.
- Spatial awareness
- Quick mapping
- Decent mop

3. iRobot Roomba s9+
The s9+ comes with:
- Clean Base automatic dirt disposal
- Two dirt-disposal bags
- Extra corner brush
- Extra high-efficiency filter
The high-efficiency filter captures 99% of dog and cat dander allergens, but the star feature of this robot vacuum is definitely the Clean Base automatic dirt disposal, which allows the s9+ to empty itself for up to two months. It sports a three-stage cleaning system which lifts, loosens, and eliminates pet hair and debris from carpets. Power-boost technology allows the s9+ to automatically increase suction whenever that is needed.
Clean Base eliminates the dust and dirt that often accompany emptying vacuum bins. Up to 30 bins are automatically emptied into the base that also serves as the charging dock of the s9+. Also featured is PerfectEdge technology that utilizes advanced sensors, and there is a special corner-brush to clean along edges. The corner performance is quite good.
The dual rubber-brushes do not get entangled with pet hair. The brushes are closer to the front than most other robot vacuums, providing unique usage. Clearly, this is not a “me too” product, especially adding that the D-shape allows the s9+ to maneuver itself to clean the trickiest spots. That said, the s9+ works great on hardwood. It works well on carpets too.
vSLAM navigation allows the s9+ to learn the layout of a home to clean it in neat and efficient rows. This sophisticated navigation system captures over 230,400 data points per second. In a few cycles, the s9+ should know its way around your humble abode. In fact, the s9+ almost never gets stuck.
Imprint smart mapping technology allows the s9+ to distinguish between your living room and kitchen, so you can decide where it cleans as well as when. You can also set no-go zones.
The smart mapping feature enables the s9+ to identify the best way to clean based on the layout of each room, furniture placement, and so on. After you label each room, the smart map allows you to direct the s9+ to clean a specific room or multiple rooms using the app.
Speaking of which, the redesigned iRobot Home app at the time provides customizable routines and maps. You also get personalized cleaning suggestions, which is a reason why this app is arguably the best of its kind. If you area’s pollen count is unusually high or it is pet-shedding season, an extra cleaning is suggested for you!
You can also set up and use Alexa easily to voice-control the s9+. You can say, “Alexa, tell Roomba to clean under the kitchen table.”
If low on battery, the s9+ charges itself and then continues its journey. On the lowest setting, you can expect the s9+ to operate for two hours. As for the highest setting, you can expect 45 minutes. Even the highest setting does not make the s9+ too loud, so it is quite moderate-sounding.
- Automatic dirt disposal
- Efficient D-shape
- Rarely stuck
- Moderate sound
- Excellent app
- Easy Alexa setup

2. iRobot Roomba j7+
Interesting fact: the Roomba j7+ is the first iRobot to use PrecisionVision navigation, it identifies objects, and it avoids obstacles, such as pet waste. While it is not the first robot to do that, PrecisionVision is a specifically branded variation.
iRobot actually calls its avoidance of poop as P.O.O.P. (Pet Owner Official Promise), so iRobot promises a free replacement within one year of your purchase if your j7+ does not avoid poop!
Now, PrecisionVision and P.O.O.P. are not simply gimmicks. This bot is actually exceptional at obstacle avoidance, and it also suggests areas to be avoided.
The star feature of the j7+ is that it has the Clean Base automatic dirt-disposal, which allows the j7+ to empty itself for up to two months.
The j7+ is not a “me too” product, and we have seen large bases time and time again, but iRobot took the time to redesign your run-of-the-mill large base and made it less of an obstacle.
As for how it cleans, the j7+ pulls in debris with the three-stage cleaning system that features multi-surface dual rubber brushes and avoids pet-hair entanglement. Moreover, there is an edge-sweeping brush.
As for movement, the j7+ moves in neat and efficient rows with zigzag movements. You can easily set Keep Out Zones if you would like the j7+ to not clean certain places.
If the battery is low, the j7+ utilizes the patented Smart Recharge and Resume functionality, but what makes it different is that the j7+ only charges for as long as it needs to finish the current cleaning job. We have not heard of this before exploring the j7+.
You can control the j7+ in different ways, such as voice control by saying, “Roomba, clean under the kitchen table.” To use that functionality, you need Amazon Alexa or Google Home.
There is an app at your disposal too. With the app, you can schedule the j7+ to clean whenever you want, but the bot itself will suggest an extra cleaning if it is pet-shedding season or your area’s pollen count is rather high.
If you are not yet convinced, the j7+ packs more interesting features:
- You can use geolocation services on your phone for the j7+ to clean when you are out.
- Reactive Sensor Technology tells the j7+ where it is not able to pass through.
- Dirt Detect intensifies cleaning in the dirtier spots of your home.
- Dustbin makeover
- Zigzag motions
- Obstacle avoidance
- Smart Recharge and Resume
- Keep Out Zones
