Shark ION Robot Vacuum AV753
This robot vacuum combines side and channel brushes with a multi-surface brush roll to handle debris on all surfaces, corners, and edges. The side brushes you can easily install. Suction is good, but it is better on hard floors than carpets, the latter of which it may struggle to even climb. Furthermore, it struggles with corners, which you will likely need to tackle yourself with a stick vacuum.
The dustbin is quite easy to pop out, so do it after every cycle. Every quarter of a year or so, replace the dustbin. The other components should be replaced once or twice a year or whenever worn out.
The three buttons on top are for general cleaning, spot cleaning, and docking. Error and wifi indicators light up whenever relevant.
Wifi functionality
The SharkClean app lets you schedule cleaning as well as start and stop cleaning. You can also use Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Just make sure you use 2.4 GHz wifi without a VPN.
The AV753 may lose connectivity when it goes under furniture, but it should reconnect on its own. That said, the AV753’s low profile allows it to go under furniture quite well. If it runs out of battery, it goes to the charging dock on its own as well.
Undeniable flaws
The AV753 is supposed to sense stairs and avoid damaging furniture and walls by avoiding them completely, but admittedly, it gets stuck quite often, so remove obstacles before deploying it.
While the AV753 is quite smart, there is no mapping feature, so it may miss some spots, and it is the type of robot vacuum that takes a random path. Furthermore, it can get as loud as a quiet microwave, which is fairly loud for a robot vacuum.
Conclusion
The Shark ION AV753 is the type of robot vacuum you should be happy if someone gives you as a gift, but it is not necessarily recommended for you to buy yourself.
