Roborock Q8 Max+ Robot Vacuum and Mop

The Roborock Q8 Max+ is a robot vacuum-mop combo that empties itself. Its huge dust bag allows for seven weeks of dirt accumulation without your interference. This Roborock comes in white or black.

Auto-emptying details

Essentially, after cleaning, the Q8 Max+ parks into its dock, the dirt is taken out of the dustbin, and it is transferred upwards to the top of the dock where the dirt will reside in the E12-rated dust bag for almost two months. However, you may be surprised to know that you can even disable the auto-emptying if you like. Otherwise, the other auto-emptying options are:

  • Smart
  • Light
  • Max
  • Balanced

Balanced means the emptying speed is matched with performance.

How it cleans

Thanks to the DuoRoller brush, the Q8 Max+ can utilize a dual rubber brush to clean better, tangle with hair less, and make your life easier in general. This technology is supposed to pick up 20% more hair. The Q8 Max+ is a short hair specialist, such as for if you have a beard you trim every day. The side brush is helpful too. The average cleaning session should not exceed an hour.

Suction details

With high HyperForce suction, the Q8 Max+ can also boost its suction automatically when a carpet is encountered (and that is not only for low-pile carpets). That way, deeper cleaning is achieved. Just remember to remove the mops before deploying the Q8 Max+ to vacuum a carpet. Otherwise, you have four suction modes at your disposal:

  1. Quiet
  2. Balanced
  3. Turbo
  4. Max

While the Q8 Max+ is good at picking up big pieces, it may struggle to pick up sand, for example.

Mopping details

Using the app, you can choose which room and floor should be mopped with which intensity. For instance, you can choose a low flow for a marble floor in your living room and high flow for dirty kitchen tiles. Hardwood and stone are also viable to clean.

There are supposed to be a whopping 30 water flow levels, but the app may only show five. Let us give Roborock the benefit of the doubt since they might have meant something else. Anyway, approximately 3,000 square feet can be mopped in one go.

If you simply need a bot to shine your floors, the Q8 Max+ may be for you. However, if there is a hard coffee stain that has been on a kitchen tile of yours for a day, the Q8 Max+ might not be able to scrub it off, especially because you cannot add a cleaning solution to the bot.

LiDAR navigation

Did you know that this innovation features PreciSense LiDAR? That way, it can:

  • Map quickly.
  • Map more than one floor.
  • Map in 3D.
  • Navigate in the dark.

You can also set no-go zones. Maybe you have an area with fragile decor, for example. A no-go zone may even be suggested to you.

Avoidant of obstacles

That is right. The Q8 Max+ avoids knocking down furniture around your home when it cleans. Plus, it has ScratchSafe wheels and brushes to maximize mobility & safety.

That said, the Q8 Max+ may mistake the edges of a room as obstacles, which can hinder the cleaning performance by 25%. On the bright side, it can move in zigzags around your home, which can help it clean in neat rows.

Smart control

With the Q8 Max+, you are not just limited to the app for smart control. You can also make use of voice control. Going back to the app, you can also:

  • Set a custom routine.
  • Schedule a cleaning session.
  • Choose a 2D map instead of 3D.
  • Check the battery level.
  • Check the cleaning area.
  • Check the cleaning time.
  • Trigger faster cleaning by 30%.

A possible schedule you can set is quiet suction in your bedroom at 9 AM, balanced suction in your kitchen at 10 AM, and turbo suction in your living room at 4 PM.

Onboard buttons

If you are concerned about children or pets activating the Q8 Max+ through its onboard button, you can activate a child lock. The other two buttons are for redocking and spot cleaning, the latter of which is for the intensified cleaning of a certain area.

Conclusion

Hopefully, Roborock can patch the firmware that makes the Q8 clean a bit far from edges. Otherwise, it is great.

  • Auto-emptying
  • Multi-surface suction
  • Vacuums bigger particles
  • Less hair tangling
  • LiDAR navigation
  • Useful app
  • Edge avoidance
  • Not for mopping stains
