XWOW R2 Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
The R2 has an edge brush and an edge bar in order to collect debris from corners. As for the mop, there is cyclical water spraying through five holes and a real-time sewage system to mop floors 80 times per minute without leaving stains.
Note that the R2 is autonomous when it comes to maintaining its mopping but not its vacuuming, so you would have to empty the dustbin yourself like with smaller robot vacuums. On the bright side, the R2 picks up different types of debris, such as pet hair. It can also work on surfaces like tile and linoleum in addition to the usual hardwood and carpets.
Cleaning modes
The cleaning modes include:
- Single vacuum
- Vacuum and mop
- Vacuum then mop
Edge and zigzag cleaning are featured too. Note that you probably cannot use the R2 as just a mop. It can either be just a vacuum or act as a vacuum-mop hybrid.
Mopping behavior
The downward cleaning pressure is 20 N, and high-speed rolling reverse friction is utilized for better cleaning. The mopping area is supposed to be more than twice the area of traditional flat mops and rotary mops. The R2 dries the floor with a microfiber cloth. Carpet detection is an option to avoid mopping carpets.
The docking station adds water to the R2, and after a cleaning, the station refills the water, recovers sewage, washes the mop, and dries it with hot air to prevent odors. Once a cleaning is finished, the R2 redocks to recharge, which it can also do when the battery is low mid-cleaning and then resume cleaning.
Spatial awareness
The R2 has LDS and LiDAR to scan the environment with precision, generating a dynamic map of up to four floors. There are three sets of linear laser sensors in addition to six precise cameras to recognize barriers over 1.79″ as well as navigate in dark conditions. Thresholds that are 0.8″ high can be crossed. That said, the R2 can get stuck occasionally, but that can be mitigated with features like a virtual wall and restricted zones.
Smart control
Through the XWOW app, which is good but may be a hassle to download, you can choose the cleaning mode, suction level, mop humidity, sequence, frequency, and time, even when you are not at home. Again, you can also set a virtual wall and restricted zones.
Conclusion
The R2 is a pleasant surprise coming from an outfit, XWOW, which was not famous in the industry before this.
