What is LiDAR?

LiDAR stands for light detection and ranging. The LiDAR sensor is a spinning laser that is on top of a robot vacuum, which is in this case the Wyze. It spins six times a second to measure the distance to more than two thousand points in a room. That is to build a map, which you can see, edit, and save on the convenient app.

The map divides a room into sections for the Wyze to move around as efficiently as possible. You can see the Wyze moving on the map in real time. You can also set no-go zones for the Wyze if you like.

SLAM (simultaneous location and mapping) technology also allows the Wyze to track its location as well as optimize cleaning paths.

What is the Wyze for?

The Wyze is there to take care of tough things to pick up like pet hair, thanks to its powerful suction, high-torque brush roll, and a side brush for edges, with the icing on the cake being the NIDEC motor.

The Wyze can climb up to 0.8 inches if it needs to. If it is losing battery, it goes back to the charging station on its own to continue the cleaning immediately after.

The rubber component of the Wyze was designed in a sophisticated way to collect hair as the brush roll does its job. Although it picks up hair well, the Wyze is better with litter and best with crumbs. Furthermore, the Wyze operates best on hard floors. Its carpet cleaning is above average at best.

One thing worth mentioning is that the Wyze’s dock is so light that you are bound to move it when trying to dock manually, so take heed.

Although not a vacuum-mop hybrid, the Wyze does have the clips for a mop. We do not recommend attaching one, however.

Disclaimer: the Wyze seems to be a clone of the M6 Pro by Proscenic.

Conclusion

The Wyze Robot Vacuum is an intelligent option that is probably in the top 10% on the market.

  • Sophisticated suction
  • Hard-floor beast
  • Convenient app
  • Carpet cleaning so-so
  • Light dock
