ILIFE A10
The A10 is a robot vacuum for carpets, tiles, laminate, and hard floors. It can work on low-to-medium pile carpets and wooden floors. However, it may miss debris, and it is not the best for pet hair on carpets.
The A10 can cross obstacles up to 15 mm. On paper, that sounds good, but the A10 actually struggles with this. Also, you have to be diligent when handling the dustbin to avoid scattering and so on.
The 2-in-1 floating roller brush remains in close contact with the floor. It automatically adjusts for uneven surfaces, so it picks up more debris that way.
Now, if the bot is about to run out of battery, meaning it has less than 10%, it goes back to the dock to recharge. This is ideal for homes of 2,150 square feet and more.
Cleaning modes
- Auto: the default mode
- Edge: for walls and corners
- Spot: to clean a specific area
- Max: to maximize suction power
App functionality
Moving on, the A10 comes with an app through which you have the following at your disposal:
- Custom area
- Carpet area
- To-go zone
- No-go zone
- Cleaning schedule
LiDAR + SLAM
The A10 uses a lethal combination of LiDAR and SLAM to maximize its awareness:
- LiDAR: light detection and ranging
- SLAM: simultaneous localization and mapping
LiDAR is perhaps most known for helping bots operate in the dark.
As for scanning, your home can be divided into suctions such as the living room and bedroom etc. You can see this from the app and choose which room is to be cleaned. Unfortunately, maps can only be edited when the A10 is plugged in.
One more thing: whenever a carpet is encountered, the A10 boosts suction automatically, but this does not mean the A10 is a fully autonomous bot. We suggest you declutter your living space before deploying it as it may trip on obstacles lying around.
Conclusion
The ILIFE A10 is perhaps too ambitious for its own good. It packs too many cons to appreciate the pros.
- Side-sweeping brushes
- Good mapping
- Can miss debris
- Pet hair on carpets
- May trip on obstacles
- Struggles with thresholds
- Tricky dustbin
- Map editing when charging
