Honiture Q5 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop Cleaner
The Honiture Q5 is a robot vacuum-mop hybrid. It has a main brush and two side brushes. The water tank is electric. There is a Nidec powered fan too. The Q5 strives to be quieter than average.
Cleaning modes
The Q5’s dustbin has a primary filter strainer and high efficiency strainer. The four cleaning modes are:
- Classic
- Zigzag
- Edge
- Spot
If you did not know, spot cleaning is the intensified cleaning of a specific area. Take heed that the Q5 may get stuck within a carpet’s fibers.
Mopping instructions
You can set the water flow volume as low, standard, or high, depending on the floor type that needs cleaning. For the maintenance of your floors’ cleanliness, you can opt for low volume. Dirty floors would require at least standard volume. If your place is a mess, such as after a party, opt for high volume. In general, the Q5’s mopping is probably best used for shining floors rather than hardcore scrubbing.
Note that water dispensing may stop working over time as part of the Q5’s aging process. Another possible issue is the Q5 asking you to move it to an open area when the area is already open.
Spatial awareness
The Q5 follows a zigzag path when cleaning to minimize missing areas. The robot also has an anti-collision functionality. There is a cliff sensor for anti-falling, and there is a ToF sensor for edge cleaning. 1.5 cm thresholds can be surpassed as well.
The Q5’s 2.5″ thickness is supposed to allow it under furniture if needed. However, it might get overzealous and try to go under something that is too narrow for it to go under, causing it to get stuck. Just block off such areas.
Would you like to block off a certain area for a reason like there being fragile decor? There is a magnetic strip you can place for the Q5 to avoid.
Charging details
The Q5 charges itself when it needs to. It then resumes cleaning. Its battery may only endure about a year and a half after which you may need to replace the battery.
More about the charging dock: place it in a wide space, and try to secure it against a wall or at least fasten it down somehow. That way, you can avoid the Q5 missing the dock or pushing it around like a hockey puck. Also, if your unit arrives with a UK plug, a US adapter might not allow it to charge.
Smart control
You can control the Q5 via the HonySmart app or remote control. You can also use voice control through Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Fun fact: the app should be available in Italian too.
The app can tell you how much area was covered in addition to how much time has elapsed during a cleaning session. Furthermore, through the app, you can:
- Schedule a cleaning.
- Pick a cleaning mode
- View the cleaning in real time.
- Adjust the suction level.
- Trigger spot cleaning.
- Check the battery life.
- Redock the Q5 to recharge.
- View the cleaning record.
- Perform an OTA update.
You might be glad to know that the Q5 may also give you vocal updates about its status.
Hardware design
The Q5 comes with an LCD display that, if it arrives in one piece, can tell you things like the battery life, wifi status, and time. The two other things you can find on the bot itself is a power button and redocking button. There is a chance your unit will arrive scratched up on top, so beware.
