OKP Robot Vacuum Cleaner
The K8 is a robot vacuum-mop that has four cleaning modes:
- Auto: the default mode
- Spot: to clean a specific area
- Edge: for those tough walls and corners
- Programmed: a cleaning that is programmed
The K8 also has timed cleaning.
You can use the OKP Life app to make a cleaning plan. You can see the cleaning process and path through the app even if you are not at home. You can adjust the cleaning time at any time. Admittedly, it is not the most well-designed app. Fortunately, there is voice control through Alexa too.
Good movement, questionable docking
With FreeMove technology, the K8 has anti-collision and anti-falling sensors to avoid bumping into things and falling off heights. Its slim design allows it under most furniture. Also, it can climb 0.6 inch thresholds.
To maximize the battery life of the K8, you can run it in low-suction mode, but if it is about to run out of battery, it goes back to the base on its own to recharge. However, the K8 may struggle to dock itself properly, resulting in partial charging and therefore a shorter battery life per cycle, so take heed.
On the brighter side, K8’s brushless motor reduces noise while operating.
Hybrid functionality…or is it?
As for the dustbin and water tank, you only need to put on a dry cloth to activate mopping. There is no need to take the dustbin out and replace it with the water tank. If you empty the dustbin, make sure you do it properly or else you may risk scattering debris all over your abode.
Unfortunately, the mop cannot hold enough water to truly mop your place in a way that makes manual mopping unnecessary. Here is a nice trick you can do for compensation: add essential oils to the cloth to make your home smell fantastic!
Conclusion
The OKP Life K8 is a reasonable contender on the market of robot vacuums, but not for its mopping ability.
- Good suction
- Relatively quiet
- Unreliable docking
- Tricky dustbin
- Lackluster mop
- Clunky app
