Narwal Freo Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
The Narwal Freo is a robot vacuum and mop with a base that has ergonomic handles for carrying. Its extra large dustbin can be emptied without touching any dirt. Speaking of which, you should not mistake the Freo for a self-emptying robot. Self-emptying robots often have similar big bases, but that is not the case with the Freo. Also, it has no water tank because it derives its water from the base, which has separate clean and dirty water tanks.
This innovation can vacuum, mop, vacuum & mop, or vacuum and then mop. During simultaneous vacuuming & mopping, one side brush is retracted. The Freo also has LiDAR, which is light detection and ranging, known for superior mapping and navigation in the dark.
By the way, the side brushes are color coded, which helps when you first snap them onto the Freo. That is when you will probably see the Freo’s anti-falling sensors.
If needed, the Freo can go under furniture to clean there if needed too. It moves in zigzag fashion.
Corner-Traps technology
Thanks to this technology, the Freo periodically activates Smart Swing, which deals with dust in corners and baseboards. Stains and dust along walls are taken care of that way.
The Freo automatically comes with a silent roller brush, but if you want, you can get an anti-tangle roller brush separately.
Different modes
Here are the Freo’s suction modes:
- Quiet
- Normal
- Strong
And here are the mopping modes:
- Slightly dry
- Normal
- Wet mopping
Full mopping profile
The Freo’s Dirtsense tech allows it to detect how dirty its mops are to then sanitize their pads with high-speed spinning using a specific amount of water mixed with a precise ratio of the floor cleaner. This should reduce cleaning time by two thirds compared to other robots.
The patented mop pads exert 12 N of force downwards. The original triangular design with rounded edges rotates consistently to avoid leaving stains behind, allegedly providing 30% more coverage. Depending on the floor type, the downward face can be adjusted.
Here are some of the compatible floor types:
- Hardwood
- Tile
- Laminate
- Vinyl
- Marble
- Terrazzo
- LVT (luxury vinyl tile)
For example, 7 Newtons are recommended for hardwood, and 12 Newtons are recommended for tile.
Mop-drying modes
With the Freo, you have three mop-drying modes at your disposal, part of which is to eliminate any odor from the pads after mopping. So, with 40°C gentle heat, the Freo has dual air tunnels that dry the pads after every cleaning.
The drying modes are:
- Silent (takes 5 hours)
- Power (takes 3 hours)
- Smart (which is a do-not-disturb mode)
The do-not-disturb mode mutes the Freo and turns off its lights.
Narwal app
The app allows you to:
- Scheduled a cleaning.
- Customized cleaning routines.
- Name rooms individually.
- Set no-go zones.
- Manage accessories.
- Generate a cleaning report.
The cleaning report includes the total area cleaned, the cleaning time, and so on.
LCD display
The LCD touchscreen shows aspects such as which wifi network the Freo is connected to, what is the volume setting, and how bright the light is.
Conclusion
The Narwal Freo was not expected to be any short of great, and it delivers on its premise.
- Decent vacuuming & mopping
- Cleans its mop pads well
- Diverse surface-type coverage
- LiDAR mapping
- Quiet
